$1650 is about what it usually is to DEL around that time. One can wait and hope, but that's what one will get under most circumstances. In fact $1650 might be considered a deal considering it is the only non-stop flying that route from NYC. One-stop flights via Europe are in the range of $1,500- $2,000 around christmas. That said, it might be a good idea to call a consolidator and see if they have any CO inventory around your dates.

FWIW, AA is also starting a non-stop from ORD in November, so that might be worth a try, although my opinion is that if you have to make it a one stop, let it be half way into the flight and stretch your legs, rather than a short hop and then a really long haul flight.
