Perhaps whoever the ad-meisters are should consider if the click rate is going down because more and more users are getting frustrated by ads and installing effective blockers that kill all of them. I had a pretty good tolerance for the banner ads and maybe even the ads between posts, but today's "enhancement" led me to drastic action and just made sure I'll never see another ad on FT again on any machine I have admin control over.
Bingo and Ditto for me! I was just coming back to this thread to post the exact same thing!
While I tolerated and even occasionally clicked on ads that appeared on FlyerTalk...today's new ads "crossed the line" for me. Now I've filtered them
all out via the quick, free and easy editing of my hosts file (WindowsXP with IE6.0). I didn't have to add or purchase software to do it, either.
Now I have a completely ad-free FlyerTalk experience. I feel kinda bad about it, to tell you the truth. But it just got to be too much. Sorry.
I will however, probably still pay of an ad-free subscription to FlyerTalk anyway...when it comes about. I just wish this all hadn't happened.
When you get to a certain point of ad placement saturation, It's not like most people are going to click on any more ads just because you shove them right in their face. Which these new overly-aggressive ad placements are, IMHO.
