TBIT is a rabbit's warren of lounges and QF has multiple lounges there. If you are eligible to use more than one lounge then don't stop at the first lounge that you see (it is the worst one). The lounges get better the further in you go. No showers anywhere in TBIT; if you are arriving on AA in T4, you can use the lounge in T4 prior to going over to TBIT (but not if you are originating in TBIT or flying other than AA into T4). The T4 facilities are quite nice and include reasonably good showers.
Will the Qantas Club invitation tell you which lounge to go to, and how do you know where the 2nd or 3rd lounge is? Do any of the lounges have windows overlooking the airport?
I am flying J to MEL next month, and anything has to be better than the regular seating area in TBIT. I am not sure what bugs me more, the lack of shops/restaurants, or the fact that every annoucement is repeated in about 10 different languages.
