FCO-ATL is 5035 miles: Skymiles = 5035+ (5035*0.5 = 2518 Y fare class bonus) + (5035*1 = 5035 GM bonus) = 12588
MQM's = 5035 + (5035*0.5 = 2518 Y fare class bonus) = 7553
Vinnmann, I agreed your original calculation is correct. I believe that Javajunkie either forgot or totally misunderstood how it is calculated that the Business/First Class and Y, B M Bonus (counted as both MQM and Award miles) as per new rule under 2005 Skymiles Program (for the Y, B, M part).
