I have been planning a trip and checking flight availability on nwa.com over the past few days. When I search the flights come up with different prices each time. Now, the flight I want is $120 more than it was a few hours ago and I can't get the original price back.

I know that airlines are constantly updating their pricing. Do they change the price based on searches for particular iteneraries or is it changed just as seats are sold? Does searching other airlines and sites such as orbitz and travelocity affect the price? Is there anything I can do to affect the price such as not searching for a while and then coming back?
