Stay with a friend, or, if you are part of a company, look into the company getting a managed apartment. Its much, much cheaper and more fun.

I use miles (or pcpm) going to DME because I don't want the hassle of connecting there and back. Cheapest ticket I know of is 192 GBP with Swiss. Have not found a cheap J ticket with AY, although there are plenty with most *A.
