It depends on your travel-style. We have reached a point in our life now, where we generally don't unpack at all and can function quite nicely out of a suitecase. The hotel(s) are always part of the experience for us; therefore, I would try both hotels if it was me.

If you are the type that wants/needs to completely unpack, hang all your clothes and put stuff away in the drawers, it might be a bit of an inconvenience. If you wait until check-in time to go to the new hotel though, I can't imagine that it would take you more than an hour or two to get everything moved over.
