Brief rain showers are common in Kapalua where you'll find the weather mostly dry in Wailea.

I have stayed in Kapalua 4 times...all at the rRtz Carlton...all times of the year- December, January, June, September....each time it has been largely windy and rainy. I don't mean 'tropical showers', I mean RAIN. Enough to keep you indoors for hours. I'll never go back. Each time, the weather even in Kaanapali was clearer, and in Wailea dry as a bone. I vote for (1) Kaanapali, or (2) Wailea, but not Kapalua.
