Interesting thing in a related article: BRO has a "jet support sales tax" to subsidize CO service to that city. At least at one point in the past (I'm not sure about now), AMA had such a tax in effect to subsidize AA service.

I wonder how many other cities utilize such taxes -- and is it worth paying for empty 737 seats every time you buy a pizza or rent a movie?
