Venice: transportation from VCE (water shuttle + taxi from Fondamente Nove?)

I will need to go from VCE to my hotel in San Polo: time and comfort are my primary priorities, but price is a factor as well.

If I take the Alilaguna (airport water shuttle) to Fondamente Nove, will I be able to easily find a water taxi at Fondamente Nove? Getting off the shuttle at Fondamente Nove saves more than a half-hour compared to going all the way to San Marco, and that's very appealing, but I wouldn't want to be stuck out at Fondamente Nove if there's no onward transportation.

I understand that I can also take a water taxi directly from the airport, but the Alilaguna option would be a good deal less expensive. (Not interested in traveling by land from VCE to Piazzale Roma: sure it's the least expensive way, but there's nothing to compare with arriving in Venice on water.)
