Don't know if you have status with A.A , but if you do you could try and see if Thai will give you status match. I was able to get match last year for my E.K account , I was not flying Emirates much by then. Since getting ROP Gold , I have been on 3 flights LHR - BKK within the past 12 months and plan at least 1 more before the end of the year. Also got 10,000 miles ( status and award ) from *A offer last month. If you are planning any internal flights in Thailand, ROP card gives you best chance for standby etc if flights are full or, if like me, you turn up late and miss your connection.
