It is still too early to get the real deals but I just found Alitalia, leaving JFK on Nov 2, returning Nov 9, for $774 (including all taxes). This was on expedia.com.
It would get you here a day earlier (Nov 3) than most other people but I will be in Tel Aviv early on Nov 4 and be happy to give you a walking tour of the city.
Hotel: I suggest the Adiv, which will probably run you about $60 per night and is a two minute walk from the beach.
