Had an 8 hour layover there in Dec. and myself and colleagues headed there instead of being trapped in the airport. Was only ~$25 per person for all the meat you can eat... have a great trip!!
I also had a December meal at the Carnivore -- and it was an unusual cultural experience. There were six of us, me from the US a few Brits, and an Italian. But the place was chock-a-block full of Japanese tourists at long tables and the place was well-decorated for Christmas. Our only problem was the cab driver who was supposed to return for us didn't. We were able to get a cab, but a pretty run down one.

If you are looking for a hotel, the Fairview is local and quite nice. http://www.fairviewkenya.com/
