I had gotten Franke's number at America West the same way.

I never tried to ask for him, but once when I was having a problem with getting a ticket reissued I called and asked the secretary if she could assist with connecting me to someone who could assist me.

My experience is that a call transfered form the CEO's secretary gets attention.
