Unfortunately it is peak travel time now... I very much doubt you'll find anything much cheaper - I had a quick look on Expedia and checked some other nearby city pairs as well and I couldn't find anything for less than $1000. My advice would be to book that Delta flight before they've sold out of seats at that fare.
