I think the business model for Enterprise is NOT to compete with the airport rental folks. They operate by the KISS method and their claim to fame is "We'll Pick You Up" rather than throwing miles at you and/or developing a loyalty program.
I read somewhere that Enterprise is now the largest US car rental company. They specialize in loaner cars at auto dealers but I know are trying to grab more local business.
Yeah the last powered carriage I bought had those new fangled power winnders *laughing* what will they think of next, maybe something to take the rain off the wind screen *giggle*
On Enterprise, we'll pick you up...it is a crock. Unless you live within 10 miles of them and right in a city they will NOT pick you up. We are 12 miles from Binghamton and when I needed a car to go see a client (cause my powered carriage done sprung a leak) they were not willing to come get me, drop the car off or any of that. Also now a lot of other agencies will pick you up too
I just dont get them not having a loyalty program even if it didnt involve miles. I personally see no point in renting week after week with them and being loyal to them (and most of my rentals are at airports) when there are other programs out there where I can be getting free rentals over time and mileage. Just seems like bad business sense unfortunately.
