60 mins is the legal minimum connection time - Gatwick North terminal Short Haul / Domestic to Gatwick North Terminal Short Haul / Domestic.

Given good conditions, 50 mins is okay for a passenger with cabin baggage, but BA is not obliged to help or provide hotel accommodation if your connection fails. If we do render assistance, it would be as a goodwill gesture.

Since we embarked on our summer timetable with 35 min turnaround times and the loss of the "Head of Stand" position on the ramp, we have had extreme difficulty in maintaining punctuality - particularly in the afternoons and evenings (aircraft departing late in the morning now remain late for the rest of the day - there is no "recovery time" built into our schedules.)

If you have hold baggage, the baggage would almost certainly fail to make the connection due to the DETR's insistence on x-ray screening of transfer baggage. For transfer baggage, the 60 mins connection time is essential!
