Avis Preferred is free, which is nice. Hertz's #1 Gold costs I think $50 per year. You can get the "regular preferred" service with Hertz for free (I think it's called Hertz Gold) but you still have to go to the counter, insead of straight to the car.
I was recently comped to Hertz #1 Club Gold on a targeted DL Gold promo that was mailed to me. The promo code made me think it was linked with FT. If I remember correctly there was something like "Delta FT" in the code.
