I've booked a PCPM one-way in Eurotrash with Amoun to go to Libya for a couple of days in November to see Leptis Magna, then i'm heading out to Christchurch (most likely in F) to visit some friends for ten days. The obvious routings for maximising miles are on BA/QF via BKK or SIN, but i'm thinking of mixing it up a bit.
AA.com has been invaluable for pricing up alternatives; one appealing one is:
- TIP-LHR (BA, J)
- LHR-HKG (BA, F)
- HKG-SYD (CX, F)
- SYD-CHC (QF, J)
...and returning...
- CHC-SYD (QF, J)
- SYD-HKG (QF, F)
- HKG-LHR (BA, F)
As I see it (including my Gold tier bonus) that should reap about 55,000 BA miles. If I stuck with BA/QF on BA numbers i'd be on for around 65,000 because of the extra bonuses; what are peoples' opinions? Is it worth giving up 9k-10k miles to give CX F a try?
