If you can't get the Open dialogue to pick one of them, try one of these:
1. Select the file, choose Get Info from the File menu (or Command-I), and use Open With (a bit more than halfway down) to pick one of them.
2. Drag the file onto either program's icon.
3. Launch either one of them, then drag the file onto that program's icon in the dock or select it from that program's Open dialogue box.
That said, I agree with PremEx - I don't know why it doesn't just open.
That didn't work either. I have no idea why it doesn't just open either -- my last Mac (iBook) automatically downloaded WMP. I'm trying to download it from the Microsoft site so I don't see how that could be a problem. I'm just totally confused and it's erking me because I need to have this downloaded and running by tomorrow night.
Edit: I just tried yet again and the same thing. Windowsmedia.sitx downloaded to the desktop and then when I double click it: "There is no default application specified to open the document windowsmedia.sitx" I don't get it......
