Another option for you on Tioman is Japa Mala resort - www.japamalaresorts.com - I haven't stayed there personally, but hope to get the chance.


As for Pangkor Laut, I was disappointed there - the rooms are nice, the resort in general is pleasant, but the service and food were decidedly average. The sister resort, Tanjong Jara, over on the East Coast was definitely better food and service wise (and the rooms are still pretty good as well).

Keep in mind from Singapore you've got direct flights to Bali, Phuket, Samui, Lombok and Langkawi, along with to Tioman and Redang now as well. All of them are around the 2 hour mark maximum, so you've pretty much got your pick of South East Asian beach destinations.
