Well, initial Gold card membership costs 52,000 miles per year which is more than, to name a few: UA, AC, SQ, SK, AF/KL...

You may be right when you suggest that the Silver level offers too much with too little differentiation from Gold, but I fail to see how this logically translates into wholesale degradation of the entire elite program.

If you think that bmi is better off without my, and other loyal customers', regular £100-£150 returns to EDI, then fair enough. However, I don't understand how replacing me with a brand-insensitive once-a-year flyer paying [as all the examples say! ] £50, makes commercial sense, particularly when the only price for keeping me is a Times and a can of coke.
