I need to book ORD-FRA (UA)-DXB (LH)-NBO (Emirates) and back the same route. On a whim, I checked doing it as 3 separate tickets and discovered it's $570 less to do it that way. This is the first time I've seen a reduction by booking separate tickets. Is there a downside to doing it this way?
