I find that in these situations, taking a few seconds to let the offending passenger know verbally and civilly of your discomfort about a situation that he/she has created is infinitely better than nonverbal and hostile actions because the latter would only provoke and make him/her entrench his/her position. Second choice for me is to get the FAs involved.
