My impression and experience is that HKG is a lousy place for electronics shopping these days, but I think it really is a function of one's negotiating tactics and patience. On the flip side, I find after-sales service to be pretty good.
I'm looking to buy a new digital camera and am not sure if I should investigate the shops in HKG as well as in the US.
I bought it here because I live here! It can be found cheaper in HK, but I prefer to pay slightly more to guarantee getting the real deal with a proper HK warranty. There are a lot of crooked outlets here, so I stick with my place on Stanley St.
I agree that HK is no longer the shopping paradise that it was during the '80s, even if the HK Tourist Authority still believes otherwise!
