Pity... You should look at the window more!! It does not look the same, indeed, one often sees beautiful sights along the way. Granted, sometimes the sights are monotonous, but there's a grand beauty in endless ocean or mountain ranges. All relative I suppose. Reminds me of a favourite quote:

I pity the man who can travel from Dan to Beersheba, and say, 'Tis all barren': and so it is: and so is all the world to him who will not cultivate the fruits it offers.

But I do understand that when it is very sunny (especially when sun is low on the horizon) and people want to sleep, it seems only the polite thing to do to close the shutters. I just hope other people will be as respectful in considering the other differing wishes of fellow pax. Afterall, I and others paid a fortune as well.

And at night I like the windows open. I like to stare out at the stars (if the cabin is dark enough) from my horizontal position in Club on a winter's night flight. FAs on BA have always in my experience been very polite when requesting pax to close the shutters.
