Uh, just a flight question, right?

OK - AA does overbook, and you can not tell by the seats you see assigned on aa.com; there could be a lot of people on a flight with unassigned seats as yet, but with paid tickets. If you can book but can not get a seat assignment, it means the flight is well sold, not necessarily overbooked - I think I've seen better informed people than I have said that about 20% of the seats are left unassigned until the day of actual flight. If AA do overbook, you can bet your blue bassinette they will not change a 757 into a 767.

If you want to get more information about AA aircraft, check www.seatguru.com (and www.aa.com, search for fleets.)

I also recommend you try the little white-in-blue "Search This Forum" or "Search" options you see toward the top third of this page. Use "HNL" in the This Forum option and you will pull up threads about flying to / from Honolulu, for instance. And when you post a new thread, it helps to 1) have searched on the topic first, and then 2) be as specific as possible in your new topic.
