Despite CO going downhill, the people on this board sure haven't. Some great advice. Thank you...
No other reward seats, otherwise it would have been smart to book another reservation.
Per the advice I will NOT allow this to cancel, if at all possible. Don't wan to lose the seats to the yield management goblins.
In terms of the miles needed for purchase I'll be at a 28 pecent deficit, thus below the 25 percent threshold for buying. And even if at the 25 percent threshold, that's at least 200 bucks--ouch, and I'm even rule busting on the other ticket t for the return.
I've had a few "feelers" out for reciprocal "book me now" and "I'll book you later." Nothing yet. Also suggested 35k NW miles for the equivalent 25CO, but no one is in need ( reward mileage b/w CNS-GUM is double on NW--a big difference bw programs; so I can't even book with NW).
JonNYC: I appreciate it. AA miles are so darn valuable. Free stopover, etc. However, using all current AA miles for this vacation, once/IF we get to CNS (then Qantas).
Deadline is April 3, and I'll try to insist on a several day extension. Ticket is for my wife. Have a flight on April 4, but it won't post for several days. [By the way, there's an easier solution...CO, are you listening?!]
For those of you who are interested: We're traveling down from GUM to CNS for a day or two, with a night in Sydney, then off to NZ via Qantas (AA) for some for 4-5 days in Queenstown for a winter vacation (skiiing, etc.). Any advice on a brief night in Sydney or several days for Christchurch/Queenstown activities, I'd REALLY love to know. Wish we had more time.
Again, thanks.
