Some more information. The prize cannot be sold. I really do not want to sell the certificate, but I think that it is unfair if they decide for tax purposes that it is income to me then I should be free to do whatever I want with it. Furthermore I cannot even transfer it or use it for a family member with the same last name (according to them I have to be present at check-in).

I cannot split the week into smaller timeframes either.

I was also given the impression that the certificate is good only for certain properties and only for those times which are not sold out. The company running the sweepstakes on behalf of points.com is going to get back to me on the availability issue.
