Caught a CBC newscast item about a meeting between the new US Homeland Security czar and Landslide Annie. Seems the Americans want to extend their Trusted Traveler program into Canada, but the NDP are crying foul, as this would be an invasion of Canadians' privacy. Americans would like to see NEXUS expanded, but are particularly keen on this integrated Trusted Traveler card/program. All nice and good, but maybe they can get the message down to preclearance people at our major airports, get some form of NEXUS installed at them all, and help us move through the lines more quickly. [Why can't Canada send us CANPASS owners an authorization to pass our information along to the Yanks, and let us use our CANPASS cards to get into the USA too?]
I have no problem letting the Americans have my CANPASS information and retina print.
