Well, yes and no. It's a university town and very liberal, but it also has the Southern hospitality and courtesy that I really appreciate. One small example:

When we first moved down here, I was amazed at how many people in passing cars would wave at me as I walked, even though I didn't know them. I find myself doing the same now.

In-laws just moved down from Boston and they mention this all the time, as well as how friendly everyone is. I've had lengthy conversations on all sorts of topics with complete strangers and, unlike Chapel Hill Gal, I'm not an overly chatty sort of guy. Part of this is that Chapel Hill is a small town, but the Southern character is very much alive here and it infects even crusty Northerners.

But back on topic, RDU isn't that bad and I lived in DC for years, so even IAD doesn't bother me that much. Guess I've mellowed.

And even with some of the screw ups I've had with UA/UX, I'm more loyal than ever because of all the good experiences I've had. ^
