since no one else has pointed it out, i will opine here:

few people actually book tickets online in china. even if you could find a site that would take your credit card, a local ta would almost certainly be more convenient.

personally, i use ctrip to check schedules and get baseline fare info (elong can serve the same purpose to an extent, but its fares tend to suck or be illusory). when ctrip looks good (eg pek-sha for less than y400) i call them and look no further. in other cases, i call a few local guys and almost always end up with something decent (several weeks ago, ctrip was showing full-fare on all sha-pek flights; i called the guy down the street and pulled down y400 on the last hu flight of the day)
