As i've mentioned in a couple of posts here (asking various other trip-related questions), Mrs Efin and I have our first 241 and we've decided to use it for a trip to NYC (which we fell in love with on our previous trip, which was also our first).

We're hoping to go either at the end of Novemeber, or (idealy) at the end of December, spending New Year in NYC. We've checked the hotel we fancy (the W Hotel, New York - across the road from the Waldorf on Lexinton Ave) and there's availability both times. However, we're worried about going over new year in case everything's shut. We're planning to do and see a couple of theatre shows while were there and were looking for some advice from the more experienced travellers here who have perhaps been in NY over new year (or live in the city). Also, we wanted to check if the "touristy" things were open - bars, restaurants, bus tours etc.

The two dates we're looking at (in case anyone can also give advice on redemption availability on these dates) are:

Out - 28/11 LHR-JFK (F), Back 01/12 JFK-LHR (J)
Out - 30/12 LHR-JFK (F), Back 03/01/06 JFK-LHR (J)
