Does anyone use NATO Phonetic Alphabet when calling UA?

I have finally memorized the NATO Phonetic Alphabet, which is used by ATC worldwide and cockpit. This is what you hear on channel 9. When I call UA, I say P for Papa or just Papa as the alphabet for my record locator. Often times, CSR is not only appreciative of making their lives a lot easier, they are impressed. They sometimes say it is interesting what word/s people use for the alphabets.
