Reissue Tickets
A friend and I were going to go on a trip to Germany together the first week in July. He has now been diagnosed with cancer and we need to cancel the trip. The tickets were non-refundable first class fares (Z). I was trying to see what CO's policy was regarding reissuing tickets (since I am certain no refund will be issued), but did not see any information regarding the specific requirements of reissuing tickets. I paid for the tickets on my Amex and the tickets show up under my name, though he is the listed passenger, am I able to reissue his ticket in my name so that I can use it at a later date? Or must a reissued ticket remain in the name of the previous traveler?
I'm afraid that if I keep it in his name and he is unable to travel for an extended period of time (say the year time limit you are allowed I believe) it will have been $1,700 gone to waste.
If the tickets must be reissued under his name, is the policy appealable? And does your status (I am Platinum) effect the outcome? I am not trying to get my money back, as I understood when I purchased the ticket that no refunds would be issued, however I really do not want to lose the opportunity to use a ticket that I paid for.
Thanks for your assistance in advance.
