I had checked in online, and was holding a preprinted boarding pass. In fact, because of that, and the fact that my connection had been upgraded, they couldn't get into the record to refare me, so they had to give me the LGA flight at no extra charge, using an involuntary reroute as the authority. I know I was late, but they have nobody on these planes. My upgraded flight had 9 open in First. They were in the 40's as a load factor on the flight that left early, and still, the customer remains the enemy, not because they left without me, but rather, because in the operating paradigm over there, it is more important to move the hardware than to consider the impact on a business customer. The customer is an afterthought, and in the same way they approach every problem, instead of fixing it, they allow it to drive the strategy. Why fix Philly, when you can just leave 10 to 20 minutes early. It apparently never occurs to them that in using that policy, they have, in effct, published unreliable schedules. For every jerk like me that stayed at a meeting too long, and got to the airport late, they probably have 2 or 3 flights operating behind schedule. The effect is exactly the same.
