Will The Real USAirways Please Stand Up
It's Monday, and I'm on my way to White Plains, normally 20 minutes from my office, only I hit a construction glitch, and I get stuck nearly half an hour. Run in the door of the Airport at 3:10 for a 3:20. No line at Security, and the place is so small you can spit at the gate. I holler across to tell them I made it, and have only carry-on, and the reply is "it left already". There follows a spirited discussion, wherein I also learn the 30 seat aircraft only had 13 people on it. I am reminded by staff that Philly is a serious problem, and they need the time. So, it's obvious. Rather than fix the problem, we just leave 10 to 15 minutes ahead of schedule. I find there is a direct flight to Columbus, where I'm going, that leaves at 5:15, and gets in about the same time I would have via PHL, so I rent a $70 compact, and drive to LGA. Arriving there, I am now told that flight is nearly an hour late, and then have to listen to a story about how tough it is to be on time with the crew scheduling Express is doing. So it appears we have an answer for every occasion. In addition to reminding all not to cut it close these days, I'm sort of hopeful we can get flights coded as US (E) for early, or US (L) for late. That way we can have a better idea of which airline is going to show up.
