For Long-term Stayers: ever had employees cross the line. .
or get too familiar with you?
I stay a couple nights/week at the same HI in the midwest. The folks that work there are very friendly and take pretty good care of me in general(hold dry cleaning over the weekend, try and secure the same room each week, etc.). But some days, it seems a little over the top:
-calling my room at midnight to tell me my baggage has still not arrived, after the airline lost it and I had gone to bed at 10pm.
-friendly punches on the shoulder when I walk by
-telling me stories of how they can't wait to leave the town and get away from their family because dad drinks too much, etc
-having the breakfast preparer holler at you across the crowded room by your first name for not eating what they thought was a big enough breakfast
-asking if they can meet up with you next time they are visiting your home city (Gulp!)
-reminding you how much they look forward to you coming back on Mondays, repeatedly, because everthing else is so boring
I could go on. Up til now, I've been pretty immune to the whole thing, but it's starting to border on creepy some days. Oh, and the only other hotel options are a Drury Inn, a run-down Ramada, and one I've never seen before.
Anyone else run into these situations, or is it just part of being a new face in a small town for an extended period?
