If you like the area, try the HI Bloomsbury, which is across the street (but off the main road) from the Russell. Stayed there for first time in May, and was pleasantly surprised with it.. one draw back is that not all rooms have air-con - I got a room with, after putting it in as a booking request and flaunting my PC Gold conspicuously at check-in.
