Here is one benefit of their status structure actually - the membership year is restarted when you upgrade to Silver. So you have a full year for the 800 points. And when you reach Gold the membership year is reset again and you get another year to requalify. The disadvantage of this system however is that you always only get exactly a year of gold whilst EB for instance gives the status the rest of your current year plus the next membership year (and another two months)...

Please let us know what they say... I was told that they didn't do status matching, even though I wanted to switch my London business to BA from SK! This has actually made me stay with SAS on many of my flights...
