I always make sure I have at least some of the local currency with me before I arrive in the foreign country, just in case.
Now I make a point to return to the US w/ some of the currency, ready for my next trip to that country. Got quite a nice collection of bills from several countries now...Thailand, England, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico...and some Euros.
