Actually, it doesn't even look like PEK is available on the All Asia Pass. Shanghai is on Dragonair but is an addl $400. So if youre a cyber traveler and leave outside summer then the pass would be $1499 plus tax and you would have to arrange your own transport from Shanghai to Beijing and back and then to Laos from Bangkok. Probably be about $1900-2000 total.
