I'm not the original poster, but ... the observation deck in the control tower at Logan was closed after the crash of TWA 800 (July 1996). Massport offices now inhabit the area that once provided such great views of the airport.
You can also get good views of Logan from off airport: Castle Island in South Boston, and Constitution Beach in East Boston. Depending on the takeoff/landing patterns, each of these provide fine views.
