Interesting "Elite Line" conversation

I just called the regular reservations line, because I needed the new Platinum Elite phone number for 2002. After giving it to me, he said he used to be on the Platinum Elite phone desk, and was there anything he could help me with? I said what do you mean “USED to be… do you mean there is no dedicated Platinum Elite desk anymore”? (I specifically asked it this was, because I have known for some time through many calls, that there was NO WAY they had dedicated employees manning these lines.) He confirmed this and said, they used to have one in the beginning, but after surveying the Platinum members, they determined there was no need for it, per the members.

Well, I don’t know who they actually talked to, but one thing I really miss about Northwest was their dedicated Platinum phone line. Talking to someone that actually knew what they were talking about, and talking to someone that knew that I knew what I was talking about, REALLY made a difference. It bugs the heck out of me when I talk to someone on the Platinum Line that talks to me like I have no idea what is going on, and has to constantly start spewing off all the rules! Just tell me what I asked for, not all the other BS that someone who actually never flies might need to know, because I certainly don’t need to have it reiterated every time I call.

So know this Continental employees that are lurking… we DO want a dedicated Elite phone desk, manned by Elite experts only!
