Might I chime in here: Some of you are quick to point fingers, but frankly that is extremely unfair. The mod referenced here is simply following his interpretation of what i have said about news items. I think this has been pointed out before but some of you are still interested in grilling the messenger which is unfair to this person. I'm sure i have not make life great for him by not posting yet my exact thoughts on this, but why not spend your time sending your comments to me rather than the current misguided attempts at world order. This is a great example of why public roasting of someone is very much frowned upon - it's usually emotions yakking away and rarely actual facts. I traded emails with this person about my thoughts on the topic and frankly he's been doing what my thoughts portrayed and gets flak. I'd suggest apologizing to this person and then filling my PM box with your thoughts and at the end of the day, refer to me as heavy-handed or worse. At least then your response would be very well aimed.
Here's where i am coming from. FT was founded on the principle of members helping other members with their Q/As of travel information. It wasn't founded on the value of a news article that always seems to become a battle ala OMNI of what the news may or may not be. Frankly for me and many others, news items are that, news items and not of interest to me. If I so choose to read the news, i go buy a paper, i don't ask that it interrupts my life. If you like to read the news, then it's an easy click to Newsstand. If you don't, then the dialog of other members helping members is still the nucleus of what FT is all about.
I'll clarify this week for all mods to work within our guidelines. But honestly, i don't see a day when i want every single news item in these individual forums. If it were, then there will be days when frankly the signal to noise value of FlyerTalk is severely devalued.
Again, please re-direct your attention to the right source.
Thanks,
Randy
