Jersey is actually from Gatwick and is only £189. I know 'cos I booked a pair last week! Don't be fooled by the low fare, though, because hotels are ruinously expensive (think £200-£250 per night for a good one) on Summer weekends. When you remember that there is no VAT in Jersey you realise that you are really getting robbed!

To be honest, if you can spare a weekend, I highly recommend Krakow ex LGW or ex-LHR Stockholm which in July / August is one of the worlds most beautiful cities. Both are about £250 I think. Stockholm suffers from a lack of good hotels although August pricing is not so bad. Krakow has two brand new five-stars in the shape of the Sheraton and the Radisson SAS, the latter I can personally recommed.

For the single man, both of these also have the advantage of lots of attractive young women who speak good English! Again, not something to be said for Jersey unless you are looking for single women over 65.

Other options include Venice, Turin, Marseille, Riga, Bologna, Riga, Amsterdam, Vilnius, Dublin, Warsaw ....
