Im still waiting for the confirmation of acceptance of debit cards, but my sources state it is pending and the date of start is july 1. The hold will be the same as with a credit card. Essentially the total cost of your rental (time and mileage if any) including taxes and fees, plus 1-10 dollars depending on whether you take the GSO or not.

example. Weekly rate 200 for a full size. State tax of 10%, plus concession fees (10% to make it easy math) would be 240.00, plus 2.00 for the FFM fee. The hold would likely be 252.00. It is important to note that while the hold is that much, the acutal charge will be 242 unless you keep the car longer than agreed upon, do not return the car with a full tank, or you went overmileage if you did not have an unlimited mileage rate code.

Friends use their paypal debit card to rent and I've heard that they get charged 192.00 (held) for most rentals of a week.
