(would US$100 "expedite" a "visa on arrival" during an emergency landing?) I know it would in several Islamic countries but am completely ignorant about Iran. I would not hesitate for a second to get out there and see the place if I had a chance. I have not traveled the middle east at all but in Asian Islamic countries, media reports and US state department travel warnings are so far from reality I would not for a second hesitate to venture into the streets of Tehran. I bet I would make many new friends and have an awesome time. I stere clear of politics and despite what anyone says, most people love Americans (in person), and I love most people and make friends wherever I go.

I suspect I would do poorly in France though, (never been there either) .
Bribery is generally not suggested and, in various situations, bribing government officials can be considered a violation of law.
