I wouldn't really argue with you there. I think some of it is certainly out of date, but there are some parts which I found rather enlightening regarding the mindsets of the French (though it's impossible to lump "the French" into a single category, of course).
I do think that if I had read it before beginning to work with French people, I might have been able to avoid a few misunderstandings.
