It means that SAS has had a bug in their computers for the last year or two that they have still not fixed... SAS-issued boarding passes used to correctly reflect * status also for connecting legs, but no more... I do not know whether it's a problem or just a nuisance, i.e., whether your status is still correctly reflected in the computer systems down the line.
